During the thirty-seventh eruption (Kīlauea, Hawaii).Video captured a huge ‘volcano’ next to a lava fountain.
A volcano is a column of ash, dust and smoke that is captured during a volcanic eruption and swirls around.
In conditions that do not involve volcanoes, displays such as these are called dust devils.
“Volnado” isn’t a scientific term, according to the USGS, but it’s a fun term and it’s cool to say.
Lava fountains during this episode reached between 500 and 600 feet in height.
A video of the volcano showed it towering over a huge lava fountain.
“Look at the size of this tornado,” video recorder Alyssa Lee said. “This is as big as an eruption.”
In addition to being as long as the eruption, the volcano was as wide as the eruption.

The volcano continued to rotate throughout the video recording.
“I’m at least a mile away from the eruption, and here’s a zoomed-in video. It’s great to see Mother Nature putting on a show, and very safely,” Lee told Storyful.
Kilauea’s 37th eruption It erupted Tuesday afternoon and stopped nine hours later, according to the USGS Hawaii Volcano Observatory.
