Authorities revealed this week that a person of interest in the disappearance of Iowa news anchor Jody Huysentruit has been named as a man responsible for the 2006 slaying of a Wisconsin woman and may be responsible for other murders.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office announced that Christopher Revac was involved in the death of Deirdre Harm, officially closing a case. Unanswered for nearly two decades.

On October 20, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office shared a letter on Facebook from District Attorney Jonathan Barnett saying that if he were alive, he would have filed charges against Revak.

“I consider this case closed,” Barnett wrote. “I believe I have enough to charge and win at trial if Mr. Revak was still alive.”

Harm, a 21-year-old single mother, disappeared from a downtown Wisconsin Rapids bar on June 10, 2006. Her remains were found five months later by hunters in a wooded area near Seneca, five miles from downtown. According to WSAW.

“This may bring some closure for many but will not bring Deirdre back,” the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin Rapids police said in a joint statement. “Our thoughts and prayers will always be with Deirdre’s family.”

Revak, a Wisconsin native and former EMT, died by suicide in a Missouri prison cell in July 2009. charged with second-degree murder In the death of Renee Williams, 36, a mother of three from Mansfield, Missouri.

Williams was last seen on March 13, 2007, at the Eagle Lodge Bar in Ava, Missouri, where she worked. Revak was also at the bar that night. According to Fox 9.

In 2024, KCCI Des Moines Iowa and Wisconsin investigators are taking a fresh look at Revak, who was reportedly suspected of several violent crimes before his death.

According to a recent documentary, police investigated whether Revak could be linked to five different murders over a 14-year period, including Huisentruit’s disappearance.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degas, who investigated Williams’ case, previously told Fox News Digital that the confirmed link to Harney’s murder heightened his concern about the former EMT’s violent history.

“When I started working on the Christopher Revac case, he was my suspect in the Rene Williams murder,” Degasse said. “I didn’t think it was his first visit.”

Degas KY3 said That forensic evidence linked Revak to Williams’ disappearance.

“We had his DNA at the scene. We had her DNA in his truck,” he said. “I think the biggest thing was that they didn’t find the body. They didn’t have any witnesses to say she was dead.”

Despite the absence of a body, investigators charged Revak with Williams’ murder based on DNA results. Degasse said his curiosity about similar crimes led him to uncover chilling parallels.

“This was not the first time Revak tried to abduct a woman from Ava,” he said. “Actually, right after his arrest I Googled ‘women run over from bars’ in all the cities he lived in. And when I Googled Wisconsin Rapids, Deidre Harm came up.”

The hunt for a fugitive father accused of murdering 3 daughters has revealed new crime details.

That discovery prompted Dages to reach out to Wisconsin investigators, sharing his findings and helping connect the dots between the cases.

“I don’t believe in coincidences,” he said. “I called the authorities there and gave them the information I had.”

Deges, who appears in a documentary discussing the case, said both Williams and Heusentrout are missing, the details of which still haunt him. He did not rule out the possibility that Revak had gone to Iowa.

“Obviously, (the pair) weren’t kidnapped from the bar, but I thought it was weird,” Degasse said.

He added that Revak “had a dark side.”

“We’re dealing with what is potentially a serial killer,” Degasse told KY3. “In his day he’s doing his bit for the community and helping people and saving people, but Chris Revak had a dark side.”

Revak was also a person of interest in the 1995 disappearance of Huisentruit, a 27-year-old morning anchor for KIMT-TV in Mason City, Iowa.

Huisentruit disappeared around 4 a.m. on June 27, 1995, calling a colleague to say she was going to work but never showed up. Police found signs of a struggle outside her apartment, including a pair of high heels and a bent car key near her car.

She was declared legally dead in 2001, though her body was never found.

At the time, Mason City police said there was no evidence linking Revak to the case. However, in 2024, investigators from Wisconsin and Iowa reconnected to compare notes on him, According to FindJodi.com.

Authorities also looked into whether Rewak’s ex-wife had once lived in the same house as one of the last people to see Huysentruit alive, but determined she was six months before the anchor disappeared.

Even after three decades, then-Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley said in June that the department continues to receive leads throughout the year and continues to follow up.

In 2024, authorities searched the property in Winsted, Minnesota following a tip, but found no new evidence. Earlier this year, part of a 2017 search warrant was also unsealed.
