A “modern-day Bonnie and Clyde” was caught on camera having sex at a popular Arizona restaurant before the joint was robbed

A couple caught on security cameras having sex inside an Arizona restaurant allegedly ended their steamy encounter by stealing cash, liquor and a phone, police said.

Scottsdale police are investigating the early morning break-in at Mon Cheri, a pink-themed restaurant in the Old Town section of Scottsdale known for its pink decor and Instagram-ready displays.

The bizarre burglary began around 3:50 a.m. Saturday, when security footage showed a man and woman entering the property, engaging in sexual activity among the floral decorations near the outdoor patio seating area, then forcing their way inside, owner Lexi Caliskan said.

“They’re caught up in this moment, there’s roses everywhere, maybe it’s kind of romantic, but it’s a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde,” Caliscan said. He told ABC15 Arizona.

When employees arrived later that morning, they found evidence of a break-in, and what had happened before.

“The first thing I noticed was that the whole platform was completely torn up. There was stuff everywhere,” Caliskan said.

The suspects stole about $450 in cash, an iPhone 5 used as the flight attendant’s phone, and a bottle of Bacardi rum. Caliskan told FOX 10. She added that two doors were damaged during the robbery.

The sticky-fingered pair were seen wearing masks before taking them off, giving investigators clear shots of their faces, police said. Authorities have not yet identified the suspects.

Located near First Avenue and Goldwater Boulevard, Mon Cheri is a popular bachelorette party and date night destination.

Its opulent pink decor and signature pink pasta have made it one of the most photographed restaurants in the city.

Caliskan said her staff found the breach more troubling than the loss of property.

“It’s a happy, positive place, so the fact that they’re doing this to our establishment is very disturbing,” said head server Kaitlyn Sorensen.

“Like this is not the place for that. Yes, we are full of romance and happiness, but that is not what we want here,” she said.

Despite the troubling incident, Caliskan reopened for business the same day, and maintained her sense of humor about what she described as a surreal scene.
