Irish humorist Graham Linehan said on Monday that he is no longer down Police investigation The social media post drew international attention following his arrest in September.

“The police have informed my lawyers that I will not face further action in relation to my arrest at Heathrow in September. Following a successful bail hearing (which the police officer in charge of the case did not bother to attend) the case has been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service,” he announced.

One post read, “If a trans-ontified man is in a women-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the police, and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.”
Linehan called his arrest “the latest attempt to silence and stifle gender-critical voices on behalf of dangerous and disturbed men.”
The case angered the “Harry Potter” author JK Rowlingwhich has also drawn criticism from transgender activism and other public figures in the United Kingdom.
“What has the UK become? It’s a totalitarianism. Very sad,” Rowling wrote at the time.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement on Monday confirming that Linehan’s case had been dropped to Reuters.

The Met Police also announced they would no longer investigate “non-criminal hate incidents” as a result of the high-profile case.
“The commissioner has made it clear that he does not believe officers should be policing a toxic culture war debate,” the Met said on Monday, citing previous comments by London Police Commissioner Mark Rowley in response to criticism of Linehan’s arrest.
“We believe this will give authorities clear direction, reduce ambiguity and enable them to focus on matters that meet the threshold for criminal investigation,” it read in a statement to Reuters.
