Strange sleeping conditions didn’t stop Addison Barger from making a name for himself Toronto Blue JaysFriday night history.
Berger was not in the starting lineup for Game 1 World SeriesFirst for the Blue Jays since 1993. He might not say it publicly, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
That’s because, according to ESPN, he spent the night at a hotel in the Rogers Center before sharing a room with teammate David Schneider and sleeping on a pull-out couch.

Schneider joked to reporters after the win that the pullout was “squeaking all night” and that Barger was forbidden to sleep in their bed with Schneider and his girlfriend.
“It’s a headcase, but it’s fun,” Schneider said. “They fixed a place, but I was like, for a few days, I’m not paying for a hotel room,” Berger told ESPN. “I know it sounds crazy, but I’m just trying to save a penny.”
Despite an apparent restless sleep, he hit a pinch-hit grand slam, the first in World Series history, in the sixth inning to give the Jays an 11-4 victory. Los Angeles Dodgers.

That was just the cherry on top of a wild week for Barger. The morning after the Jays beat the Seattle Mariners in the American League Championship Series, Barger went home to visit his wife, who had just given birth to the couple’s third child.
He moved back to Toronto, but Berger didn’t have a full-time position in the city and needed somewhere to live. So he roomed with Miles Straw before sharing a room with Schneider.
It was the largest home run by the Blue Jays since George Springer’s three-run homer sent the Blue Jays to the World Series.
