Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia will not be present for Game 1 of the World Series.

With the Fall Classic starting on Friday, Los Angeles announced on Thursday that Vesia, 29, would be “away from the team.”

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Alex Vescia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a very personal family matter.” The Dodgers said in a statement posted on X. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”

It remains unclear exactly what the personal matter is or how much time the leftist will lose.

Vesia, who was drafted by the Marlins in 2018, has spent the past five seasons with Los Angeles after Miami dealt him to the Dodgers before the 2021 season.

During his time with the Dodgers, Vesia boasted a 2.67 ERA and 364 strikeouts in 295 plate appearances.

This season, the left-hander has a 3.02 ERA with five saves in 59⅔ innings as one of the Dodgers’ high-leverage relievers.

Vesia has already made seven appearances for Los Angeles in the postseason, earning wins over both the Phillies and Brewer.

In addition to Vesia, Dodgers closer Tanner Scott’s availability for the World Series remains uncertain.

Scott, who was taken off the list with Abscess resection during NLDS Against the Phillies, he said he felt ready to play.

“I feel much better now. There were a few days where I felt miserable.” Scott told reporters on Monday. “I’m throwing, I’ve thrown a few bullpen balls. I’ll see where it takes me. … I feel healthy.”

“I definitely feel better than I did coming out of the Phillies series. I wasn’t feeling good.”
