America’s 25 Best Cities and Towns for Families

These days, more and more US residents are enrolling in what is known as “Sandwich generation“—mostly cross-section Gen Xers And the elderly Millennials Those who raise children and care for elderly parents.

When it comes to deciding where to live, this demographic has quite a few factors to think about. For their children, they may prioritize a good school system and colleges that are not too far or too expensive. For their parents, important considerations can include the quality of medical care, assisted living facilities, and/or home health care. Add these to broader metrics like safety and affordability, and it may seem like you need a degree in data analytics just to find a good place for a multi-generational family.

Fortunately, luck I did all Data analytics for you. In an effort to focus on “places that offer high-quality amenities in communities that feel like home,” the editors limited the study to about 2,000 areas with populations between 25,000 and 750,000 people. Then, using resources ranging from Realtor.com and Caring.com to the USDA and CDC, they evaluated each place across five categories: education, resources for aging, overall health, financial health, and livability.

They took into account racial diversity by eliminating places whose racial diversity was below the state or national average, and geographic diversity by limiting each state to two places in the top 25. (In addition, each county or metro area can only have one place on the list.)

according to luckanalysisThe best place in America for a family is… Ann Arbor, Michiganwhich boasts excellent schools, healthcare, and job opportunities, as well as a thriving arts scene (not to mention the University of Michigan). The northern Detroit suburb of Novi ranked 10th, making Michigan one of five states that reached the study’s limit of two places per state. Other states include Texas (Willie was second and Sugar Land was 17th), North Carolina (Morrisville and Statesville), New Jersey (West Windsor and Parsippany-Troy Hills), and California (Tustin and San Marcos).
