Bengal paid tribute to The late Jets great Nick Mangold Sunday before the team’s Week 8 home game against Gang Green.

The team held a moment of silence for the Ohio native in the press box at Baycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

This moment came after news broke Sunday morning that Mangold had died Saturday night due to complications from kidney disease. He was 41 years old.

“Nick was more than just a legendary center,” Jets Chairman Woody Johnson said. “He was the beating heart of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football. Off the field, Nick’s intelligence, warmth and unwavering loyalty made him a treasured member of the extended Jets family.”

Mangold was previously a first-round pick by the Jets in 2006, and played 11 seasons as a center before retiring in 2016.

Mangold is survived by his wife, Jenny, and their four children.

In the weeks before his death, Mangold revealed he needed a new kidney and was searching for a donor.

“In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder that led to chronic kidney disease.” he wrote in a social media statement This month. “After a tough summer, I’m on dialysis while we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I’d have more time.”

The Jets entered Sunday’s game against the Bengals 0-7.
