California Governor Gavin Newsom violated federal law by upgrading his state driver’s license An illegal immigrant truck driver is accused of causing a horrific drug pileup It killed three people and injured several others, according to a new report.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy blamed Newsom for Tuesday’s fatal crash, alleging that state officials illegally upgraded Jashanpreet Singh’s business license weeks after a new federal rule went into effect barring undocumented immigrants from such privileges. According to a Department of Transportation report released on Friday.

The restrictions, which require countries to verify an applicant’s legal status, came into effect on September 26 – while driving rights were expanded to 21-year-old Indian citizens on October 15, the report said.

“My prayers are with the families of the victims of this tragedy,” Duffy said in a statement.

“This would never have happened if Gavin Newsom had followed our new rules. California broke the law and now three people are dead and two are hospitalized. These people deserve justice. There will be consequences.”

Singh was initially issued a restricted CDL in the Golden State on June 27, limiting him to intrastate travel, according to a DOT report.

When the new regulations went into effect, the federal agency notified California officials of “significant compliance failures” regarding the issuance of truck driver licenses and gave them 30 days to review its practices and revoke or revoke all unexpired CDLs, the report states.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles lifted restrictions on Singh’s driving on Oct. 15 — his birthday — without enforcing the stricter standards imposed by the Department of Transportation’s new emergency rule, officials said.

“Gavin Newsom was explicitly warned that California’s CDL program was seriously broken,” the report charged.
