Cam Scatepo has a ‘long way to go’ after successful emergency ankle surgery

Giants coach Brian Daboll said Cam Scatipo’s emergency ankle surgery was successful Sunday night, and he could be released from a Philadelphia-area hospital Monday.

Daboll and Scatipo exchanged text messages late Sunday night and early at 4:08 a.m. Monday.

“It’s gone well, he’s recovering and obviously he’s going to be missed,” Daboll said. He refused to address any details related to the injury. “He has a long way to go.”

He is expected to be ready to start next season if recovery setbacks are avoided.

Daboll described Scatibo as “a guy who came to us and ignited a lot of energy and toughness in us.” He also scored seven touchdowns to lead the team.



“He’s an infectious personality,” Daboll said. “This is Scato. (The spirits) are good — as good as they can be through text. You feel for your players when they go down like that.”
