PHILADELPHIA – Cam Skattebo’s stellar rookie season has taken a turn for the worse.
Scatepo suffered what appeared to be a serious injury to his right ankle midway through the second quarter Sunday against the Eagles. The Giants’ teammates knelt down, many of them turning their backs to avoid the horrific scene.
Scatepo left the field on a cart with his ankle in the air and received a huge ovation from the unfriendly Eagles fans, a sign that the hard-working running back had earned their respect. He scored his team-leading seventh goal earlier in the game on an 18-yard pass from Jackson Dart.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. — the first starting running back replaced by Skattebo and now forced into a bigger role again — has been with Skattebo the tallest in showing his support. Scatipo noted as the carriage drove off to acknowledge support.
