In a typical Easter egg hunt, what do you look for? egg. But these two illustrations are from Restart poker So full of eggs that they don’t require any hunting. Instead, each picture contains a different hidden object: there’s a chick in the first picture, and a carrot in the second.

One idea is that Christians borrowed this custom from pagans, who were known to decorate and gift eggs — an appropriate symbol of new life — during the spring festivals.
Other theories are a little more serious. According to one Christian legend, Mary Magdalene brought a basket of eggs to share with other mourners at Jesus’ tomb, and the eggs automatically turned red when the tomb was found to be empty. In another story, Mary holding the central egg was Jesus’ mother, whose eggs turned red when Jesus’ blood ran on them during his crucifixion.
Today’s pastel-colored poultry offspring give a more cheerful tone, especially when paired with flowers and butterflies like the ones in the puzzles above.
