Actress Cheryl Hines, wife of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the reason it was so easy to stand by her husband during the sexting scandal with then-star New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi.

“I think you always have to think about the source, right? So, that’s where I start,” Haynes told “The Katie Miller Podcast” in a sharp criticism of Nozzie, who lost her job and her fiancé over the scandal.

“Then it ends up being a conversation with Bobby,” she said of her husband of 11 years, according to a sneak peek of the conversation obtained by Politico Playbook.

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actress said last year’s scandal — which Nozzie has always admitted was digital and not at all physical — was part of the hype she expected when her husband was running for the White House.

“Bobby was running for president and it had been an exhausting year and a half of headlines and rumors and articles and chaos,” the actress recalls.

“And at that time, I said to myself: ‘Okay, this is more chaos and more rumours.’” “It was a lot,” Hines said.

I also wondered about Nozzi’s motives in putting everything back together for a memoir expected by the end of the year.

“I don’t know this guy. I don’t know his intentions,” Haynes said of the writer now in Vanity Fair.

Earlier this week, an insider told the newspaper that the rumors left Hines in a “state of shock and distress” — but that she “ultimately and categorically, without reservation, believed Bobby’s denial.”

Kennedy also downplayed the relationship, saying through his spokesman that he met Nozi only once for an interview at her request, which resulted in a “hit article” about him.

Meanwhile, Hines has been promoting her own memoir, Unscripted, which will be released on November 11.
