Curtis Sliwa refuses to withdraw from the New York City mayoral race “under any circumstances”

A defiant Curtis Sliwa has forcefully rejected mounting calls for him to end his bid for mayor of New York City.
“So, let’s be very clear: I will not drop out, under any circumstances,” the GOP mayoral candidate said at a news conference Tuesday morning. “He actually offered me money to drop out, so I said no.”
The comments come a day after his boss and influential Republican, John Catsimatidis, issued a public call for Sliwa to withdraw from the race and unite behind Andrew Cuomo.
For months, hopefuls for the crowded mayoral office have been called upon to rally behind a single candidate in an attempt to prevent proud socialist Zahran Mamdani from winning the city mayor’s office.
But Catsimatidis’ urging took the lobbying campaign to a new level, with the billionaire grocery store owner also funding Sliwa’s day job as a shock prankster on WABC.
However, Sliwa still has the support of other top Republican figures, including Catsimatidis’ daughter Andrea, who chairs the New York Republican Party Committee.
“Republicans in every district stand united behind Curtis Sliwa for Mayor of New York City,” the county chairs said in a joint statement. “Republican voters will not vote for Andrew Cuomo.
“Curtis Sliwa is our candidate, a credible leader who will defeat the radical left and restore safety, affordability and common sense to City Hall. He is our candidate to defeat Zahran Mamdani on November 4th.”
