D.C. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton was defrauded of more than $4,000 by fake home workers

88-year-old Democratic congressman for Washington, DCMore than $4,000 was scammed Thursday, when suspects came to her home claiming to be “cleaning workers,” Fox News Digital has confirmed.
The suspects were able to access Eleanor Holmes Norton’s credit cards after they were released at her DC home.
They charged about $4,362 for this Duct and fireplace cleaning on her credit card while doing no work, accordingly WRC-TV.
Someone described as a home manager stopped by Norton’s office after confirming no appointment for HVAC services and reported the alleged fraud.

Her office told the news station: “The congresswoman hires a house manager who oversees all maintenance services, so she initially assumed her staff had arranged the appointment and gave her credit card to pay.”

“After notifying her home manager, who reviewed the ring doorbell footage and confirmed that no such visit had been scheduled, the incident was immediately reported to the police,” the statement added.
