Colleagues and TV news professionals from rival networks gathered to celebrate Deborah Roberts’ new book Sisters: Beloved and Treasure in the Media That Haunts Michael.
Robin Roberts, Gayle King, Savannah Guthrie, and Hoda Kotb all chimed in to support the book, which features 50 personal stories from iconic women like Viola Davis, Jenna Bush Hager, Barbara Bush and more.
“It was a fun fraternity for morning TV,” a source told Page Six.
The event began with opening remarks from Disney News Group President, Debra O’Connell.
Robin introduced the woman of the hour, and Deborah talked about the role of the “GMA” anchor in the book. She joked that Robin showed up unexpectedly when she interviewed her sisters, Dorothy Roberts McEwen and Sally Ann Roberts, for the book, according to one party-goer.
“She wasn’t supposed to be there, (she showed up) just to monitor the amount of family tea they were sharing,” the source told Page Six.
Meanwhile, Robin shared a message from David Muir, who was hosting ABC World News Tonight. (Muir eventually made it to the party after surprising Deborah before the party ended.)
Deborah’s four sisters and husband Al Roker, Arianna Huffington, Bevy Smith, Tonya Lewis Lee and ABC co-stars Stephanie Ramos and Will Reeve were also in attendance at the ceremony.
“The sisters’ journey unfolds in real time… Thank you to everyone who embraces this book. I am forever grateful and hope it offers light in the complicated, life-affirming world of sisters, sister friends,” Deborah captioned a photo with her siblings.
