‘I beat the guy who owns you’

‘I beat the guy who owns you’

Richardson Hitchins keeps his public argument to go with Teofimo Lopez, boasting for his victory over George Kambosos Jr., a teo fighter in 2021.

The post-and-front started earlier today when Teofimo (22-1, 13 kos) took a shot to Richardson, saying on X, “Heavy as 170+ lbs of heavy.” This comment was in response to boasting Hitchins for being “heavy.”

Hitchins won’t let him go

Hitchins has been calling out repeatedly, WBO lightweight welterweight champion Lopez since he left Matchroom Boxing following his sweeping victory over the eighth round over the game, Kambosos Jr. In trouble on June 14, 2025.

Hitchins did a great deal about the victory, forgetting that Kambosos had a record 1-3 in his previous four contests when he fought. He would have more reason to boast if he had shown some courage and fight Gary Antuanne Russell or Subriel Matias. Boating for his victory over Kambosos makes hitchins sound smug.

Desperate for a big battle

Lopez’s call after choosing not to re-sign with Matchroom was a sign of despair on behalf of Hitchin. When he decided not to resume with promoter Eddie Hearn, he seemed to go by the belief that he would be stampede for his service.

Richardson didn’t even get one big silver fight as Edgar Berlanga had after he chose not to re-sign with Matchroom Boxing Hearn after his huge win in the first round. Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz on March 15, 2025. Turki used Alalshikh Berlanga as an opponent Hamzah Sheeraz after he became a free agent.

Reality Check for Hitchins

Hitchins needs to forget about teofimo, hoping that he will throw a bone at him. It’s not going to happen. Teo is infinite and only popular or those he is 100% sure he can beat them. Hitchins does not fit any of those categories.

More realistic options for hitchins

  • Ernesto Mercado
  • Gary Antuanne Russell
  • Keyswein Davies
  • Subriel Mathias
  • Alberto Puello
  • Jamaine Ortiz
