‘I don’t like you either’

An Australian journalist asked US President Donald Trump whether past comments by his ambassador to Washington had affected the thinking of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s administration.

Sitting across from Trump during the Australian delegation’s visit is the ambassador, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

In 2020, Rudd wrote on social media that he believed Trump to be the “most destructive” president in US history.

Those comments were deleted in November 2024 after Trump’s election victory, saying he did so “out of respect” for the presidency.

Trump didn’t seem to recognize Rudd at the table — but once he introduced himself, Trump quickly revealed his thoughts.

“I don’t like you and I probably never will,” he said.
