The illegal immigrant who was shot after ramming his car into federal agents in Los Angeles is a TikTok star famous for recording ICE arrests.

Carlitos Ricardo Barillas — who was shot in the elbow Tuesday in a tense standoff in which a U.S. marshal was also shot — is known as Richard Los Angeles on TikTok, where he has more than 130,000 followers. ABC 7 reported.

He mostly follows ICE agents around Los Angeles, recording them as they detain suspected illegal immigrants, and gets hundreds of thousands of views and likes.

The 44-year-old TikTokker, who had reportedly escaped custody on a previous occasion, rammed his Toyota Camry into law enforcement vehicles after agents surrounded him following a traffic stop on Tuesday, officials said.

“Eventually, an agent opened fire, wounding Barias and a Deputy U.S. Marshal, who was struck by a ricochet bullet,” Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Isay said. “Fortunately, both Deputy Marshal and Barias are expected to recover.”

Barias was arrested and charged with assaulting a federal officer. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in federal court in Los Angeles on Wednesday and faces up to eight years in prison if convicted.

Despite Barias being in the country illegally and being accused of dangerously bumping customers, he was celebrated by Los Angeles City Councilman Corinne Price.

“Richard is a pillar of our community, a courageous citizen journalist whose true story has elevated unheard voices in South Central Los Angeles,” Price wrote in a statement. “His unfiltered depiction of real life has fostered a loyal following, both on TikTok and across our city.”
