J.B. Pritzker accuses ICE of ‘racial profiling,’ defends comparing agents to Nazis

Democratic government JB Pritzker President Donald Trump’s claim that ICE agents are going after “the worst of the worst” was mocked in their crackdown on illegal immigration in Illinois on Thursday.
“They are literally going after black and brown people because of the color of their skin,” the governor told Special Report.
Pritzker, who invented The Illinois Accountability Commission, which tracks the conduct of ICE agents, insisted there were cases of misconduct “all the time.”
An outspoken Trump critic compared the president’s crackdown on ICE to Nazi Germany and called ICE agents “thugs,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.
However, he told the “Special Report” anchor. Bret Baier His state will help law enforcement with a warrant deport violent criminals.
“We want the bad guys off the streets,” Pritzker said.
“What we don’t want is for people to be racially profiled. That’s what’s happening now.”
When Baier pressed Pritzker about his comparisons to ICE agents, the governor stood behind his comments.
“I’m talking about what they were doing, taking people’s rights, arresting people, asking them for papers,” Pritzker said.
He continued: “Early on in an authoritarian regime, wherever it is in the world throughout history, this is what happens.”
“It is the beginning of something very bad for a country, especially for a constitutional republic.”
He went on to say that the only thing he “demonizes” is when law enforcement acts out of line and does “literally racial profiling.”
Baer responded, “Don’t you think you’re painting with a broad brush all ICE agents who do their jobs?”
The governor responded that no one in Washington was holding the “bad guys” accountable.
““There were no suspensions or firings for the terrible things they did, like literally seizing people, treating them when they were American citizens and had done nothing wrong,” Pritzker said.
The Democrat again pointed to Trump’s federal forces He repeated his warning Thursday on ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith That the president may try to steal the upcoming election.
“What I’m telling you is you can only look at his history, to 2020, after the election, when he claimed fraud, claimed money was stolen from him.
“And he and Michael Flynn We discussed it, and Michael Flynn spoke out, maybe we should use troops and go in and seize the ballot boxes and count the votes.
“You don’t think Donald Trump I heard that and thought maybe this would be a good idea? he asked.
Pritzker claimed that Trump sending troops into blue cities is “not at all” about fighting crime.
When Baer asked Pritzker what the best thing Trump has done since taking office, the Democrat acknowledged that the country no longer has a “problem” of illegal border crossings.
However, he said Trump refuses to propose “comprehensive immigration reform” through Congress.
“Why does he want to send troops? Why would he want to send ICE and CBP? Why not implement immigration reform that we can all rally around? he asked.
“It has been 40 years since both parties ‘rallied’ behind an immigration bill,” Pritzker noted.
“Let’s do it finally,” he said.
Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops to Illinois will remain prohibited indefinitely.
The Trump administration on Wednesday proposed extending a US District Court judge’s restraining order on the deployment of the National Guard while the Supreme Court considers the issue.
It is unclear when the Supreme Court might rule on the case after the administration’s emergency appeal to intervene last week.
