Vice President The Jedi Ones criticized New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani on Saturday, writing on X that, according to the Democrat, the “real victim of 9/11” was his aunt.

Vance made the comments as early voting opened Saturday in New York City, where Mamdani, who is leading the race, is trying to fend off challengers. Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa.

“I want to speak to the memory of my aunt. Who stopped taking the subway after 9/11 because she didn’t feel safe in her hijab,” Mamdani said in a clip from a campaign event Friday shared by Vance.

“According to Zohran, the real victim of 9/11 was his aunt who had some (alleged) evil nature,” Vance said.

Mamdani also said Friday, “I want to talk to Muslims who work for our city, whether they teach in our schools or walk the beat for the NYPD, New Yorkers who sacrifice every day for the city they call home, only to see their leaders spit in their face.”

“I want to speak to every child growing up here who has been marked as Other, who has been chosen at random, who never seems random, who feels like they are a stain that can never be erased. Growing up in the shadow of 9/11, I know what it is to live in this city with an undercurrent of suspicion,” Mamdani added.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Mamdani campaign for comment on Vance’s comments.

During an appearance on WABC’s “Sid and Friends in the Morning” on Thursday, Cuomo questioned Mamdani’s ability to lead the city through the crisis.

“At any moment, a crisis strikes and people’s lives are at risk. God forbid, there’s another 9/11. Can you imagine sitting in the Mamdani seat?” Cuomo asked host Sid Rosenberg.

“He’ll be cheering,” Rosenberg replied.

“That’s another problem,” Cuomo said, before returning to his hypothetical question: “But can you imagine that?”

During a Mamdani campaign event in Manhattan later Thursday, a reporter asked Mamdani if ​​Cuomo’s comments were Islamophobic.

“Yes, I believe it was,” Mamdani said, before adding, “We’re talking about a former governor who, in his last moments of public life, is not only Islamophobic, not racist, but also disgusting.”
