Jets win calms doomsday scenarios for Aaron Glenn

CINCINNATI — Aaron Glenn held the game ball given to him by Christopher Johnson under his left arm as 307-pound defensive tackle Harrison Phillips lifted him into the air in the visiting locker room at Baycor Stadium.

The Jets players broke out in a chant that could be heard through the brick walls and seemed to echo around the lower level of the stadium. After losing his first seven games as the Jets’ coach, Glenn finally got into the win column with Amazing 39-38 win over the BengalsAnd now his players are celebrating with him.

“It felt good just seeing the happiness on his face,” Jets linebacker Quincy Williams said.

One of Glenn’s favorite words is “grit” and that’s what his team showed on Sunday, overcoming a 15-point fourth quarter deficit for the ages. It was capped off by a halfback option pass from Breece Hall to rookie Mason Taylor – a play call that showed Glenn’s courage had not been compromised by such a long losing streak to start his coaching career.
