John Fury Blasts Referee for Stop ’10 Seconds Too Late ‘
John Fury says the referee, Howard Foster, suspended the Battle of Joseph Parker against Fabio Wardley “10 seconds too late” in round 11 last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, England.
“Ten seconds too late” rage exploses
Fury, father of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, states that Parker (36-4, 24 ko) takes “Unnecessary punch” by the powerful Wardley (20-0-1, 19 ko) after being badly hurt in the 11th round.
It was clear to many boxing fans that Parker, 33, was not going to be able to survive the 1 minute and 6 seconds in Round 11. There was too much time left, Parker did not throw any punch back in his defense, and Wardley was raining shots on him.
Parker’s painful final
Parker was in poor condition when he came out for round 11 after being amazed late in Round 10 by Wardley. In the 1 minute and 54 seconds of round 11, Parker threw only seven puncheslanding just two before the referee stopped the match at the mark 1:54. Nothing came back from the New Zealer to the referee Foster allowed him to continue. In contrast, Wardley threw 52 punches, landing 26 of them in round 11. The match had become a massacre by then, and Parker needed a saving.
“Joseph Parker is going to come back stronger. The big gypsy Joe will be back as he’s only 33. I know that. Comiserations to my brother,” he said Tyson Fury on InstagramResponding to his friend, Joseph Parker, is cast out by Fabio Wardley last Saturday night.
Fury is fine. Parker may come back, but he needs to be selective in the opposition he faces. Staying away from Wardley, Moses Itauma, and Agit Kabayel would be a wise step. However, at the age of 33, he must venture him to claw his way back to the content of the world title. He cannot do so by combating soft jobs for the next three to five years.
Was Foster’s timing away again?
“Whoever said that stopping a little early wants to lock up and licenses are removed,” John Fury told Ifl TVIn response to the controversy over referee Howard Foster suspended the match in the 11th round after Fabio Wardley hurts Joseph Parker.
“For my money, it was 10 seconds too late because Joe was taking unwanted punches off a man who can hit a wall down with one hand at Fabio Wardley,” said John Fury.
The second argument
The final sequence of the 11th round repeated what happened in round two. Parker was rescued in that position after losing his mouth and having a 10 second break. It was a suspicious step on behalf of the referee to stop the action, given that Parker was in a dire position – badly amazed and took a non -stop punch from Wardley.
In such cases, referees usually allow the sequence to play out rather than stop the action when a fighter is about to be cast out. Understandably, Wardley was unhappy after the fight when the referee called a deadline in the second round.
