Keith Thurman says that Terence Crawford can seduce 154

Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman says he believes he can “attract” Terence Crawford to return to 154 to face him for the Welsh Books Council’s “green” mid -weight title by beating champion Sebastian Fundora.

On the surface, it sounds like a crazy fantasy that Thurman is cooked in his head, thinking he would beat ‘The Towering Inferno’ Fundora, and then face Crawford to make gazillions.

The Fundora Factor

Thurman (31-1, 23 kos) and Fundora (23-1-1, 15 ko) are expected to be rearranged for January 24, 2026, or January 31, 2026. They were due to fight on October 25, 2025, but Fundora suffered a hand injury, making it necessary to fight until next year.

Crawford’s silence says enough

He is thought to be going to stay in 168, waiting to see if Canelo will ask for a second game because that’s his best option for a payday. Crawford would not want to fight ‘One Time’ Thurman, 37, aged 154 for a payday that would likely be less than the $ 50 million he has just received for Canelo fighting.

Turki’s role in the fantasy

Turki Alalshikh would need to be interested in paying for a battle between Crawford and Thurman. I don’t know why it would, when many of the younger boxing fans have never seen Thurman fight. They do not know who he is except for his physical appearance: a bare, 40-is-look.

4. Bud would need to want the battle
5. Commercial appeal

“I don’t know what is seducing it these days, but I feel maybe, just, the green belt might enchant it a little,” said Thurman on the possibility that Terence will be interested in fighting with it if he captures the CLLC’s younger middleweight belt from Sebastian Fundora.

It is skeptical that Crawford will see any value in fighting for the WBC 154-LB title if Thurman gets his hands on him by beating Fundora. Omaha Native Terence, Nebraska, already said once he leaves a department, will never return.

That would be a step back for Crawford to return to 154. He would have to cope with a lot of pressure to fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as well, and that would be a cruel battle for him at 38 years old.

Bud Crawford focuses on collecting departmental world titles to confirm his legacy, so that he can make a case for himself to be considered one of the four on the Mount Rushmore of boxing. That’s her hangup right now, and why he probably wouldn’t be interested in returning to 154.

If Thurman wants to fight against the star, Crawford, he would need to move up to 168 or 160. Wherever he is or goes, Thurman needs to go in that direction. It cannot assume that it is on an equal playground with Crawford in terms of status and discussions. This is not 2016.
