Kim Kardashian responds to ex-husband Kanye West’s claim that she is keeping her children from him: ‘He was never contacted or asked’
Kim Kardashian She felt like she had Stockholm Syndrome in her marriage to him Kanye West.
In the season 7 premiere Kardashians, The SKIMS founder opens up about her turbulent marriage to West, whom she divorced in 2021. As for what goes through her mind when the rapper starts exhibiting erratic behavior, Kardashian says: “My poor kids.”
Kardashian, who has four children with West, continues, “Everyone can handle it, but like…protect my kids.” “They’ll know things. They’ll grow up. They’ll see. So, my job as a mother is to make sure they’re protected at the time when this behavior occurs.”
The reality TV star says she was able to “hide” West’s behavior from her children for “a long time,” but one of the children recently found out what was really going on. When talking about their marriage, Kardashian felt like she had “a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome” because she “always felt so bad” and “always wanted to help” her ex-husband.
Now she says she doesn’t feel “that responsibility.” But what upsets her is when West falsely claims that she is preventing him from seeing her children.
“Even though people think I have the luxury of walking away and never dealing again, that’s not my reality,” she says. “This guy, we have four kids together. It’s so confusing because there’s going to be all this talk online about ‘I’m going to keep the kids.’ Not once has he been called and asked. ‘I’m going to get up and I’m going to keep the kids’ on Twitter. When it’s not right and it’s irrational, I can’t participate all the time.”
She adds: “It’s a divorce, not a kidnapping. We haven’t left. We’re in the same place. We have the same address. He knows where his kids are. What happened to the house next door that I bought and we were going to co-parent and do it back and forth, and you take them to school every day?”
Kardashian, who grew up watching the “best co-parenting relationships” between her mother Kris Jenner, stepfather Caitlyn Jenner, and father Robert Kardashian, invited West to “dinner as a family every night” when he bought the house next door to hers.
“That’s clearly not what he wanted. I get that. Maybe it’s too much,” she says, before later adding: “It is what it is.”
Although Kardashian has not received any apology from West, she insists that she is “not looking for” one.
