This is the worst scenario.

Finding a nasty cockroach in your apartment, especially in New York City, is unfortunately common. But how? The owner interacts with her It can make or break a tenant’s experience.

Unfortunately, upon moving in, one of my tenants found dead cockroaches inside the kitchen cabinets, and the landlord’s solution was more than shocking — and kind of gross.

Disgruntled residents shared their complaints r/apartment living Forum on Reddit.

“I moved into my new apartment on October 1st. At this point, I have unpacked 90% of my belongings and finished building all of my IKEA furniture. I wanted to decorate my kitchen and put things on top of my cabinets,” the poster wrote.

They expressed how the tanks were covered with dead cockroaches. “I think the previous tenant had a roach problem…and a mouse problem! I looked under the cabinets on the floor and found a hole filled with more dead roaches and rat feces.”

After emailing the owner and waiting for maintenance to fix the problem, all they did was paint over the dead roaches and stick a piece of wood over the hole where the mouse droppings were. I doubt they cleaned it out first.

The fact that the maintenance guy didn’t even remove the roaches is a non-starter — and Redditor agrees.

“I want to email her back to complain, but what can I say? Disgusting aside, it’s comical how bad of a job they’ve done to take care of this,” the OP wrote in their post. Topfotolia – Stock.adobe.com

Many sympathized with the tenant and offered advice.

“I demand that this issue be resolved by a specific date! Invite her to look in person. This may be an issue related to the Ministry of Health…”

Several Reddit users offered advice on how residents can handle this serious situation. Payless Images – Stock.adobe.com

“Oh my God, this is my worst nightmare. I have a real fear of cockroaches and mice. You should keep complaining or end the lease if they can’t fix these issues properly. It’s unacceptable.”

This is not the first time and will not be the last time that the cockroach problem in the apartment has been mishandled.

A 30-year-old New York City renter She was forced to move out of her Upper East Side apartment after her bathroom ceiling collapsed, sending water and live cockroaches into her $2,400-a-month studio apartment.

I posted a video about it on Tik Tokwhich has since gone viral, and has also raised concerns about building safety and pest control in older New York City buildings.

“Everything is falling apart, just like pieces are everywhere,” she told The Post. “Then the water starts falling. Then I look at the ground and all the debris and I see, like… I saw at least five to 10 cockroaches getting under the debris.”
