Lego set “The Goonies” brings the hell ship to life with the help of Ke Huy Quan
The Goonies never say “die” – but they clearly do Lego.
The construction giant has officially unveiled 2,912 pieces Fools Collection inspired by the classic 1985 adventure film directed by Richard Donner Which it produces Steven Spielberg.
The massive diorama recreates the film’s legendary pirate ship, The Inferno, with detailed rooms that reference the film’s most iconic moments – from the Fratellis’ hideout and the Bone Organ to One-Eyed Willy’s treasure room. The set includes 12 minifigures – Mickey, Mouth, Chuck, Andy, Data and more – plus new die-cast pieces for Sloth’s pirate hat and Mama Fratelli’s hat.
To announce the launch, Lego brought in the Oscar winner Ke Huiquanwho played Data in the original film, for a nostalgic mini-movie as he walks fans through the set and Easter eggs. Quan also shared a behind-the-scenes story about the real reveal of Inferno.
“When it came time to film the reveal, they had us walk backwards in a line, then get into the water with our backs to the ship the whole time,” he said. Hollywood Reporter. “There were seven cameras rolling – one on each of us – to capture our reaction when we saw hell for the first time. Only Josh (Brolin) had to film the retake, as he let out a damn of excitement the first time!”

The project comes from Lego Ideas, the company’s fan submission program. It was designed by Greek 3D artist Vagelis Ntisis (aka Delusion Brick), who said the process was very personal.
“When designing this set, I revisited my childhood memories – growing up in the 1980s, playing with LEGO Pirates sets and watching The Goonies,” Netezes said in the Lego announcement. “By combining nostalgia, imagination and creativity, I wanted to build something that provided playability and display value.”
Fools Launch the group through LEGO Early Access Program on November 1 before hitting stores on November 4 for $309.99. Early buyers will also receive a bonus 179-piece Goonies: The Walsh’ Attic set, which recreates the attic scene where the kids discover the treasure map.
