Macaulay Culkin Says Dangerous ‘My Girl’ Filming Won’t Take Place Today

Macaulay Calkins Early days in Hollywood It wasn’t for the faint of heart – nor does he think it could happen today.

The 10-year-old actor recently opened up about a wild childhood experience filming classics like “Uncle Buck” and “Home Alone” and was adamant that some of the things he endured for the film “wouldn’t fly today.”

During an appearance on “On Film … with Kevin McCarthy” podcast, Culkin was asked about the 1991 film “My Girl,” in which his character, Thomas J. Sennett, died of an allergy to multiple bee stings. He admitted that depicting death did not affect him, but working with bees affected him more.

“The way they did it, they wouldn’t do it today,” he said. “They put this stuff on my fingertips that smelled like a queen bee. So they were attracted to my hand, so I wasn’t in danger… They actually released thousands of bees on me. Imagine that.”

He added, “Those were real weird bees, man. They ain’t gonna fly these days, boy howdy.”

Kulkin explained He was directed Waving your hands in front of your face so that a swarm of bees will appear, which will look “good for the camera”.

He also said that after the scene was filmed, he was told to wash his hands and then go to a nearby forest away from the bees.

“The beekeeper gave me a piece of advice,” he recalls. “He says, ‘Man runs faster than bees fly.’ I was like, ‘But I’m 10 years old. How fast do you think I am?’

They did four takes, and he said he didn’t get bitten once.

The actor talked about another scene, in which his character and Vada acted Anna ChlumskyJump in the pool.

While they were filming, he said he saw trappers on set, but later learned that the traps were catching poisonous snakes, which were then used as bait to snap turtles, which were then used as bait for alligators roaming the lake.

“And I’m like, ‘What pool are we jumping in? Jeez, have you ever heard of swimming pool or something?'” Culkin joked. “Like, oh my God, they’re throwing bees at me, alligators everywhere … Like I said, some of that stuff wouldn’t fly these days.”
