Kicked out by an overzealous fan Brooklyn Net Security during Thursday night’s game after hitting the court trying to take a selfie with Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell.

The incident unfolded with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. With Cleveland leading the game, 121-115. A fan wearing a purple sweatshirt ran onto the court after the whistle and headed straight for Mitchell, phone in hand.

After the game, Mitchell revealed what the guy wanted and why he came to him in particular.

“I took a few steps back and then I put my feet back, and I was ready to handle whatever was necessary,” he said. CBS Sports. “The kid wanted a selfie. I know he’s probably going to jail for a while, but when he gets out he’ll probably get a good selfie. Sorry, I don’t think that’s a joke.”

Teammate Jarrett Allen praised Barclays Center security for their swift action.

“At first, I was confused. And I saw him running towards Don and taking a step towards him. But they have great security at the Barclays Centre,” he said. “Shout out to them, they took care of him. His feet didn’t touch the ground when he walked off the court. They carried him out of the building.”

The fan’s fate was not immediately clear, but future visits to the Barclays Center may not be in the cards for him.

For Mitchell and the Cavs, they won 131-124 at the Nets. Mitchell scored 35 points and Allen and Sam Merrill each added 22 points.
