Neighbor accused of shooting woman because her horse got ‘too fat’

A Texas man is behind bars after he shot his neighbor last week because he thought her horse had gotten “too fat.”
Lee David Stroll, 39, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he opened fire on his neighbor in the rural community of Liggett north of Livingston on Oct. 15. East Texas News reported.
Stroke authorities said Also wanted in Harris County on an unrelated aggravated assault warrant for a family member’s arrest.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call about a shooting on Wilson Road and found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, court records show.
She told investigators that her neighbor shot her in the arm and possibly in the back during a dispute over how to feed her horse, which was kept on Strohl’s property with his permission.
The woman told deputies that Stroll was upset because she continued to feed the animal, claiming he “didn’t want the horse to get too fat,” according to police documents.
A perimeter was established around Strohl’s home while deputies obtained a search warrant. Investigators said they found evidence linking him to the shooting inside the home.
Strole was later discovered hiding in a wooded area near his home and was taken into custody without incident. He remains jailed in Polk County without bond, records show.
The victim survived the shooting, but authorities did not provide an update on her condition.
Authorities have not released further details about what led to the shooting or whether Stroll has hired a lawyer.
