Nelly Furtado quits music after being subjected to body shaming attacks

Nelly Furtado has announced her retirement from music following a series of attacks by trolls on social media.
The singer made the announcement while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of her debut album, “Whoa Nelly!”, in an emotional social media post on Friday.
“After 25 years, my music has reached a whole new generation of fans, and I couldn’t be happier about it,” she said. he wrote via Instagramalong with a photo of her in 2000, and a more recent clip of her on stage in Berlin over the summer.

“I’m grateful for all the years of fun, community, and wonder,” the singer wrote, expressing “endless gratitude to anyone who has listened to my music, rocked by it, and attended any of my shows.”
The “I’m Like a Bird” hitmaker also thanked “those who worked hard to help me realize my popular dreams on a creative and organizational level,” as well as her “wonderful and loyal collaborators.”
