NFL News: Giants heavily fined for violating concussion protocol

The NFL Head coaches Brian Daboll and Cam Schatebo assessed some major penalties against the New York Giants for violating the league’s concussion protocol.
6 wins during Giants Week Philadelphia Eagles, Quarterback Jackson Dart was taken to the blue medical tent for a concussion evaluation. While Dart was being examined, Daboll and Scatebo both peeked into the tent and examined the rookie quarterback.
The disruption during the exam proved costly, as the NFL fined the Giants $200,000, Daboll $100,000 and Skattebo $15,000 for violating the league’s concussion protocol, the NFL and NFLPA announced in a joint statement Friday.

“Their conduct was inconsistent and disregarded the requirements of the concussion protocol and resulted in a violation,” the Read the statement.
In a joint NFL-NFLPA statement, they noted that Daboll and Skattebo had no effect on Dart’s examination or care. It has also been said in the investigation veteran “Immediate remedial steps were taken” to prevent a similar incident from reoccurring.

The statement said the Giants fully cooperated with the NFL and NFLPA’s joint investigation.
The penalty comes after the team’s inexplicable fourth quarter collapse Denver Broncos, During which they allowed 33 points in the final frame and missed two extra points in the loss. The heartbreaking loss dropped the Giants to 2-5 on the season and 2-2 in games started by Dart.

The team will look to rally, and avoid any additional penalties for violating concussion protocol when it plays the Eagles (5-2) again Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
