NHL cancels 2026 Olympic farewell event at UBS Arena

The Olympic farewell event at UBS Arena no longer exists.

A Super Bowl Media Day event for the Olympic hockey tournament that was planned in lieu of the All-Star Game at UBS Arena has been canceled, an Islanders spokesperson confirmed to The Post.

ESPN’s Emily Kaplan was it The first to report the news.

The Islanders are still scheduled to host the 2027 All-Star Game and Skills Competition, though it will be much less risky being sandwiched between the NHL’s return to the Olympics and the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.

The 2026 All-Star Game was awarded to UBS before the NHL announced it would send players to the Olympics in Milan.

When it became clear that the Olympics would replace the All-Star Game in 2026, it was changed to a media event and the Islanders were given the 2027 All-Star Game instead.
