“Our intention has always been to start a conversation about what kind of economy the American people want to build and the impact of tariffs on workers and businesses,” Ford said of the ad that aired in the U.S. market.

Ford’s hometown Toronto Blue Jays will host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night for the first game of the series. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday night in Toronto.

Ford, who calls himself a “huge Ronald Reagan fan,” said on Oct. 16. X first posted the ad on , days after the Ontario government said it would spend $75 million to run the ad in the United States.

“We’re going to repeat this message to every Republican district across the country,” Ford said.

On the ad, Reagan is heard saying, “When someone says, ‘Let’s put tariffs on foreign imports,’ it sounds like they’re being patriotic by protecting American products and jobs.”

“And sometimes it works for a little while, but only for a little while,” Regan says. “But in the long run, such trade barriers hurt every American worker and consumer.”
