Pope and King Charles pray together in ‘hugely symbolic moment’

King Charles III became the first head of the Church of England to publicly pray with the Pope. The BBC’s Mark Lowen was in St Peter’s Square during the service – held in the Sistine Chapel – which he described as “a hugely symbolic moment in theological history”.
The Queen was seen wearing white for the ceremony – seen as a sign of respect – after following the dress code of wearing black when meeting the Pope the previous day.
The service in the Sistine Chapel brought together clergy and choir from both the Catholic Church and the Church of England, of which the King is supreme governor.
