Shocking new footage shows a National Guard hero opening fire on a suspected Afghan militant

Disturbing new footage shows the moment a heroic National Guard member opened fire on the suspected Afghan terrorist – just moments after the alleged gunman ambushed two soldiers in a daylight attack.

The suspect, Rahmanullah Lakkanwal, was seen brazenly holding his gun as he fired shots at National Guard members in Washington, D.C., on Thanksgiving Eve, according to a clip obtained by The Wall Street Journal.

At one point, a guard can be seen running down the street frantically trying to reload his weapon.

Moments later, photos taken by a witness showed the two guards – Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24 – falling into the street.

Beckstrom died of her injuries Thursday evening, while Wolf is still clinging to life.
