Stephen A. Smith still thinks LeBron James courtside confrontation, and he told a former NBA star why he thought he was “set up” by the league’s all-time scoring leader at that point.

Smith and James went viral earlier this year Los Angeles Lakers game, where the latter confronted the former in his courtside seat and addressed Smith’s criticism of how the Lakers were handling the superstar’s son, Brony James.

Smith revealed in March that the incident stemmed from Broney’s criticism of him on television.

“There’s no way you’re in the arena, you’re LeBron James, and the only angle somebody sees is a straight shot of you in my face,” Smith added. “They see no reaction. They see nothing. And this is an accident?”

Smith enters the realm of conspiracy here, but he stands his ground as he expresses his feelings about what was likely an orchestrated conflict.

“Oh right I did,” Smith quickly replied when asked if he felt set up. “I think so. But no big deal, no problem because I went on the air the other day and I’m like, ‘That’s a dad reacting to his son.’

And in case you’re wondering, no, Smith and James aren’t made up. In fact, Smith made it clear how he feels about James.

“I don’t like his a—, one bit,” he said. “It was over a decade ago. I’m not going to go into detail about what this guy has tried to do to me. You don’t understand the lengths this guy will go to… If it was up to him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s some low, low stuff.”

The beef between the two is real, and this week it doesn’t look like there will be any patching up for the 2025-26 season.
