Stronger or slower vs Norman?
Devin Haney’s body transformation for his fight against WBO Brian Norman WBO weight champion has many fans questioning whether the extra muscle will improve its performance on November 22, 2025, in Riyadh.
Haney (32-0, 16 kos) has summarized in the training camp, putting much size forward to compete at the full 147-lb weight for the welter pressure section. Not only has the upper part of Devin’s body grown, but his head seems bigger as well. It’s strange. That extra muscle makes him look completely different from the fighter who fought Jose Ramirez earlier this year on May 2, 2025, at Times Square in New York.
It is dangerous for Haney to have worn so much during one unproven training camp against a lower -level fighter who has no punching power. It is arguable that the largest turbulent in the welter pressure section, Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 ko), bulk up so much to face.
If anything, Devin, 27, should be coming into the fighting lighter, as he will need to rely on his legs to move it around the ring for 12 continuous rounds. If he sets his feet to throw with force, he will be at the mercy of Powering Norman’s power. Haney does not have the punch resistance to remove power shots from a fighter like Norman Jr.
“If you put anyone in there with the same guys, and they’re going to do the same,” Devin Haney told Ring ChampsWhen asked what the ‘eye test’ tells him about how well Brian Norman Jr. going to his fight on November 22. “I’ve been doing this at the highest level since how long?”
Question: Has Haney been fighting in the “Top level”? His resume does not reflect a fighter who has faced the highest echelon of opponents. The only name for resuming Devin who jumps out is Vasily Lomachenko, who was 35 when they fought on May 20, 2023.
After Haney rehydrated for the battle, he looked like a younger middle weight fighting feather weight. It was huge compared to Lomachenko inside the ring.
Haney’s other “top -level” opponents:
- King’s program – 35
- Yurorkis Gamboa – 38
- Jorge Linares – 35
- Ryan Garcia – a social media star
- Joseph ‘Jojo’ Diaz
- George Kambosos Jr. – one striking wonder
- Jose Ramirez – come off loss
- Zaur Abdullaev – peripheral competitor
- Antonio Moran – Ditto
- Juan Carlos Burgos – Traveler
As one can see, Haney’s experience is restricted to older fighters, some much smaller than him, and social media star Ryan Garcia. You cannot count Haney’s victory over Lomachenko for three reasons:
- Controversial nature: many fans saw it as a robbery, believing that Lomachenko should have won
- Difference size: Haney looked like a mid -younger weight fighting feathers
- Age difference: Loma was 35 and 3 months when Devin fought.
