Suleman, the head of Microsoft AI, won’t be building chatbots for the company Erotica

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman said the software giant would not build an artificial intelligence service that provides “simulated erotica” and distanced itself from longtime partner OpenAI.
“It’s not a service we’re going to offer,” Suleman said Thursday at the Paley International Council Summit in Menlo Park, Calif. “Other companies will build that.”
Suleman’s comments come a week later OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said His company plans to allow verified adults to use ChatGPT for erotica. Altman said OpenAI is “not the chosen moral police of the world.”
Microsoft has been a major investor and cloud partner of OpenAI for years, and both companies have used their respective strengths to build large AI businesses. But relations have shown signs of strain of late, with OpenAI partnering with rivals such as Microsoft Google And the oracleAnd Microsoft is focusing more on its own AI services.
Earlier on Thursday, Microsoft announced A series of new features for its Copilot AI chatbot, including one Companion AI A Mico that can respond to users with a call feature and express itself by changing its color.
Suleman wrote in August Essay Titled “We should build AI for people; not to be individuals.” He argued that tech companies should not create “seemingly conscious” services that could make humans believe they are capable of suffering, and wrote that conscious AIs could create another “axis of division” for humanity.
On Thursday, Suleman said that seemingly conscious AI is already being created, primarily with erotic-focused services. He referred to Altman’s comments By Elon Musk Grok, which in July launched It has its own companion features, including a female anime character.
“You can already see that with some of these avatars and people leaning towards sexbot erotica,” Suleman said. “It’s very dangerous and I think we have to make conscious decisions to avoid this kind of thing.”
OpenAI did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while xAI responded with a “legacy media rhythm.”
