Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton Join Forces Yet Again in Paris

Distinctive motifs and characters also appear, including Murakami’s beloved smiling flower.
A collection this innovative deserves a big reveal, and Murakami undoubtedly delivered. The artist himself curated the accompanying artwork for Art Basel, which is located on the Balcon d’Honneur of the Grand Palais. In the heart Articabucense VII Exhibiting is a massive sculpture created especially for the occasion, depicting the luminous head of an octopus. Standing eight meters (about 26 feet) high, the octopus was inspired by Chinese lanterns, which is reflected in its saturated colors and fluid structure.
