A Texas couple They were arrested after the body of their adult special needs child was found buried in their backyard, according to investigators.
According to a Burleson police social media post, the remains of 26-year-old Jonathan Kinman were discovered when police conducted a welfare check at 433 White Oak Lane in Burleson.
Kinman’s mother, December Mitchell, and stepfather, Jonathan Mitchell, were charged with tampering with physical evidence and tampering with a human corpse, a second-degree felony. The pair may face additional charges pending the outcome of the autopsy report and investigation. The two are being held on $250,000 bond each.

On Oct. 14, police responded to the home for a welfare check on Kinman, who lived with his mother and stepfather.
Deputy Police Chief Doug Sandifer said Investigation started According to Fox 4, after a family friend saw a disturbing Facebook post from the couple mourning Kinman’s death.
Investigators became suspicious after the couple confessed to Kinman’s death, but would only provide vague information about how he died, Sandifer said, the outlet noted.

“The first information she said was that he was taken to Huguely Hospital and pronounced there. We followed up and it wasn’t right,” Sandifer said. “Conflicting information definitely led us to believe that something was not as it should be.”

Kinman’s body was exhumed and taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy was performed. Autopsy results are still pending and the cause of death has not yet been determined.

It also remains unclear when Kinman died.
Police said they did not believe there was any threat to the community at any time during the investigation.
