The 10 Longest Escalators in the World

The 10 Longest Escalators in the World

When it comes to the longest Moving ladder Order in the world, address goes to Mid-level escalator in Hong Kong, which has an elevation of about 135 meters (about 443 feet) and a distance of more than 800 meters – just under half a mile.

Although the longest continuous escalator is a bit smaller than that, it is still impressive. The classification is not limited to just one escalator, but to three escalators. They are all 453 feet long, 226 feet high, and are located in separate metro stations in St. Petersburg, Russia: Ploshchad Lenina, Chernyshevskaya, and Admiralteyskaya.

List of longest escalators, compiled on the blog Panethoscontains a fair number of those found in other metro stations around the world. In fact, only one out of the top ten isn’t part of a railway station – and that’s not the only reason it stands out from the rest of the pack. The city of Trondheim, Norway is home to bicycle ramps known as Trample Which takes motorcyclists up the steep hill of Brobaken. You keep your left foot on your left bike pedal and place your right foot on the footboard that juts out of a narrow ramp next to the sidewalk. When the footboard moves up the 426-foot slope, you move with it.

If there was a prize for building truly massive escalators, Russia would undoubtedly win it. In addition to the top three, the country also placed sixth in Moscow’s Park Pobedy metro station escalator, which is 416 feet long and 208 feet high. Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, China and Azerbaijan also occupied the top ten.
