Although passing gas is a fact of life, there are times when you may want to reduce your chances of evacuating a room or creating a biohazard situation in an elevator.

Fortunately, a new study offers some helpful advice. Researchers at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, recently studied how different foods affect the amount of hydrogen sulfide produced by bacteria in the gut. while Farts Made up of several different gases – oxygen, nitrogen, methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen – hydrogen sulfide is responsible for making the wind smell like an egg carton left to rot in the sun.

In order to discover how the gas interacts with stool, scientists collected poop from seven healthy volunteers and then mixed it with ingredients common in both meat and carbohydrates to see which produced more of the odor-causing gas. The result? Cysteine, an amino acid found in meat, eggs and other protein-rich foods, increases hydrogen sulfide seven-fold.

But when they mixed the waste with fructans and resistant starch, sulfide production fell by 75 percent.

In other words, a typical bodybuilder’s high-protein diet is likely to result in a terrible post-workout car ride. If you plan to be in a situation where a bad tooth is socially hindering, you may want to cut back on eggs and choose carbohydrates like bananas, potatoes, wheat, or vegetables like artichokes and asparagus instead.

According to lead study author Zhou Yao, the most important takeaway from the research is not to avoid fiber for fear of making you gassy. While flatus production may increase, fiber absorption of water in the intestines helps eliminate sulfides and reduce odor.

“The worrying thing is that there are all these people walking around constipated because they’re too afraid to eat fiber in case they fart badly,” Yao said. New world.
