The Giants released kicker Jude McAtamney after missing an extra point against the Broncos

Two days later New York Giants‘ The Denver Broncos’ epic collapse has left one of the players responsible for their 33-32 loss.
Kicker Jude McAtamney, who missed several extra points in the loss, which included three points to the Giants with just seconds left in the fourth quarter, has been released after four games for New York.
McAtamney, sophomore NFL The Northern Ireland kicker joined the Giants through the league’s International Pathways program. After Graham Gano’s injury in Week 3, McAtmany was elevated to take over the kicking duties.
McAtmany, who played college football at Rutgers, got off to a good start for the Giants, making two short field goals and an extra point in his debut against the Los Angeles Chargers.

But missed an extra point against McAtamney Philadelphia Eagles At home last week, and in Denver, he got worse when he missed an extra point in the first half and a terrible miss after Jackson Dart’s rushing score gave New York a 32-30 lead with 37 seconds left in the game.

The mistake proved disastrous for the Giants, even though it wasn’t McAtmany’s fault, as the Broncos were able to get downfield well into Will Lutz’s field goal range for the win. He kicked a 39-yard field goal on the last play of the game.
Instead of tying the game at 33 with a field goal, the Broncos celebrated their come-from-behind victory, while the Giants were completely surprised by what happened in the fourth quarter.

McAtmany’s lack of field goal range also played a role in this game, as the Giants missed attempts. They decided to score two runs after going up 19-0 on a wild run by Tyrone Tracy Jr. Conversion failed.
The young kicker was released because Gano is eligible to come off injured reserve. Gano is expected to kick Tuesday to determine if he is ready to return to the Giants.
Meanwhile, Youngho Koo, the former Atlanta Falcons kicker who was released earlier this season, is on the Giants’ practice squad. He will battle Gano this week to decide who will kick for New York against the Eagles on the road this Sunday.

Gano has battled injuries since the 2023 campaign and has struggled to be available for New York. He has missed 20 games since that season.
When healthy, Gano has proven to be one of the best kickers in the NFL, making 83.9% of his career field goal attempts.
