The new Patek Philippe Twenty~4 features a perpetual calendar
There is a new movement sweeping the city in the form of… Patek PhilippeThe latest watch from its Twenty~4 collection.
Founded in 1839, this iconic brand is the only independent, family-owned manufacturer in Geneva.
In addition to the calendar, the watch has a moon phase (visible through an aperture at 6 o’clock) and a 24-hour indicator.
Patek has a global reputation for producing exceptional timepieces, and their latest Twenty~4 is no exception.
New 7340/1 R It is the first complication watch in the Twenty~4 collection.
And it is not a “normal” complication but a perpetual calendar – one of the most complex mechanical watch movements ever made. The 18k rose gold watch features Patek’s famous ultra-thin, self-winding caliber 240 Q, which measures just 3.88mm high and offers a low profile of 9.95mm on the wrist.
The 7340/1R’s day, date, and month perpetual calendar takes into account different lengths of months, including leap years.
In addition to the calendar, the watch has a moon phase (visible through an aperture at 6 o’clock) and a 24-hour indicator.
The 7340/1R is also the first Twenty~4 watch with a round, non-gem-set case, allowing for a more elegant and refined look while not drawing attention away from the dial. But Patek didn’t sacrifice comfort or beauty for the new 36mm watch.
Its polished gold bracelet features central links surrounded by narrower outer links, allowing it to fit seamlessly on the wrist. The watch is available in two dial options: a silver-tone version featuring horizontal and vertical brushing that resembles silk shantung, and an olive green dial version with a slight sunburst finish emanating from its centre. The beauty of the watch’s exquisite automatic movement can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback.
The Twenty~4 collection, Patek’s only watch line dedicated exclusively to women, was first introduced in 1999. It was designed to suit all aspects of a woman’s daily life “at every hour of the day and night, at work, at home and during leisure activities,” according to the brand.
Twenty~4 has seen many iterations throughout its 26-year history. The first offerings featured a steel bracelet with a diamond-encrusted bezel and a quartz movement, with a rose gold version added a year later. While the original watch was rectangular in shape, a round case shape was added to the collection in 2018, and features a mechanical movement with automatic winding for the first time.
“The timeless design of the Twenty~4 has established itself as a modern classic,” says Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern. With the addition of the perpetual calendar to its collection, the collection is ready to stand the test of time, 24-7-365.
