Today Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie want Janelle Monáe to teach them how to time travel: ‘It’s not a skill I have’

Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie They were completely on board when they heard Janelle Monae Explain in a viral video that she once traveled back to the 1970s to see her David Bowie Performing on stage.

on Today with Jenna and friendsBush Hager shared a clip of Monae speaking with singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus. “I went back to the 70s and saw him perform Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars and it was unbelievable,” Monáe told Dacus without batting an eyelid.

“Have you traveled again…?” Dacus asks in the clip, seemingly seeking clarification.

“And I said to myself: This is what I want to do,” Monáe continues. And so I’m back in the 2000s.

Both Bush-Hager and Guthrie were confused by her confession, but they were certainly intrigued as well.

“I’m not sure but I want to have everything you have,” Bush Hager declared. “I love Janelle! She’s on our show, she’s a queen. She probably has powers beyond our understanding.”

“The thing is, she didn’t even have a twinkle in her eye or a wink. She’s literally like. ‘I’ve traveled through time, and here’s the boarding pass to prove it,'” Guthrie pointed out. “I’ve traveled through time and I believe in it.”

The co-hosts then shared who they would be back in time to see. For Bush Hager, it was the Beatles who chose, while Guthrie admitted she wanted to take her “13-year-old self to a Duran Duran concert.”

“They were on every inch of the retaining wall in my childhood bedroom,” Guthrie said.

But both today The hosts were interested in learning more about this alleged time travel.

“Can we get Janelle Monáe to come on the show so we can learn how to travel through time?” Bush Hager asked her today Theater crew. “Because it’s not a skill I have.”

“It’s not a skill,” Guthrie said, before asking the real tough questions: “And do you have a DeLorean?” Back to the future? Does she have some kind of vehicle in which she travels through time? “I would like to know.”
