Rasmussen is the president of the university Texas in Tyler, where the university approved a new chapter earlier this month.

“It was pretty quiet for a while, but after Charlie left, we got almost 100 members. So that was really cool,” Reese Cooper, president of the TPUSA chapter at UT-Tyler, told Fox News Digital.

The chapter began in January but was not officially recognized by the university until this month. Cooper said the group struggled to find a faculty advisor to sponsor the organization because of the obvious political implications associated with TPUSA’s conservative politics. Jonathan Roncancio, the chapter’s vice president, said most professors lean more left, and the group hasn’t done enough to get sponsorship from the adviser.
