President Donald Trump said Thursday night that he was ending all U.S. trade negotiations with Canada after the country used a “fake” ad talking negatively about former President Ronald Reagan’s tariffs.
Trump made this announcement True social post.
“The Ronald Reagan Foundation has just announced that Canada fraudulently used an ad, which is fake, in which Ronald Reagan speaks negatively about tariffs,” Trump wrote.
“This ad was worth $75,000. They did it just to interfere with the decisions of the US Supreme Court and other courts,” Trump wrote.
“Tariffs are critical to the national security and economy of the USA, based on their aggressive behavior, all trade negotiations with Canada are hereby terminated. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
