Trump signed the peace extension a few months after breaking the ceasefire witnessed by Thailand, Cambodia

Cambodia and Thailand signed a cease-fire extension on Sunday that US President Donald Trump helped broker over the summer to end their border conflict.

Trump threatened to impose higher tariffs against both countries and agreed to end the war. Dozens of people have been killed and millions displaced in the conflict.

The president watched as Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signed an extended ceasefire at the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The agreement requires Thailand to release 18 Cambodian soldiers held captive and both countries to begin removing heavy weapons from the border.
