Trump Warns NYC May Elect ‘Communist’ Mayor Zohran Mamdani in Race

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he believed New York City could soon elect a “communist” mayor and signaled a preference for a Democrat to take the reins over a left-leaning candidate at City Hall.

“If he (Sliwa) drops out, he’s not going to win. And it doesn’t look good for Cuomo either,” Trump said. “Maybe if he drops out, Cuomo will have a little bit of a chance. But not much. Because it looks like there’s a lead — it’s not a huge lead, but he should be able to win.”

When pressed on whether he would be willing to meet with Mamdani if ​​elected, Trump said he would.
